Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Operculum Shell Eye Long Dangle Earrings.

Offering a pair of antique, nicely matched Operculum shell sterling screw back earrings.
Handmade, they are slightly different sizes because each one has been set in a bezel that's been formed to the natural shell, then surrounded by a braid of twisted silver.  The soldering is delicate as are the screws.  One of the screws is not quite straight, but they both work perfectly.  The braid has air spaces, and in these and in the space surrounding the shells is evidence of substantial age with very old patina.  The same is true of the reverse.  I have not cleaned them and they are sold as found with their old patina intact.
These are both marked sterling on the curved part of the earring loop.  The Operculum shells are smooth with a satiny sheen.  There is surface wear from age.  Pretty and rare in very good antique condition.  Thank you for looking.
