Description

For sale are 4 Bread & Butter Plates in the pattern of Carrara Modern China by Iroquois, circa 1955.
Iroquois China of Syracuse, NY USA was a powerhouse dishware producer from 1905 to 1969. They hired designers like Ben Seibel and Russell Wright---two of the industrial design masters of their time---which gave a certain distinction to all of the MCM designs that Iroquois produced in the 1950s and beyond. Carrara Modern China (CMC) comes in multiple colors,
these four bread and butter plates (6.5"diameter, approx) are gray with white veining
.
The random veined pattern is inspired by white Carrara Marble from the city of the same name in Italy.
Like the famous marble, no two pieces of Carrara dishes have the same pattern, with a range of heavy and light, which
makes them unique and endlessly fascinating.
I'd say these have medium veining and are similar to each other.
Carrara Modern dishes feel sleek and refined, especially when compared to heftier patterns like Iroquois Casual China designed by Wright.
Carrara Modern China is not prolific though it always seems to have a presence on Ebay.  I've collected it over the years but retirement is ahead and I am trying to shed possessions. This collection would be a prized addition for anyone who loves the simplicity and elegance of all things MCM. I have a few other CMC listings---one small lot and one 25-piece lot--- of this china, in different flavors, and would consider giving a discount if you want multiple lots.
A note about shipping: I use UPS Ground (or equivalent) to save on costs but can look into faster (and costlier) delivery if you wish.
